Hagia Sophia Visitor Guide: Entrances, Tickets & Dress Code

Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya) is one of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks and can be visited both as an active mosque and as a museum area. To help visitors plan their visit easily, there are two separate entrances depending on the type of visit: the Mosque Entrance und die Museum Entrance.


🕌 Mosque Entrance (Free Entry for Worship)

Visitors who wish to enter Hagia Sophia for worship can use the mosque entrance.
✅ Entry to the mosque section is free of charge for Muslim visitors attending prayer.


🎟️ Museum Entrance (Ticketed Entry)

Visitors who want to explore the museum section must use the museum entrance.

  • Museum Ticket Price: €25 per person
  • Ticket Purchase: Tickets must be purchased from the ticket office at the Topkapi Palace entrance

Open: 09:00 – 19:00
Last Entry: 18:00

Opening hours may change depending on special events or religious times.


👗 Dress Code for Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia is an active religious site, so visitors are required to follow a respectful dress code:

  • Wear modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered)
  • Women may be required to cover their hair
